The first two movies of the Twilight Saga left me thinking I wouldn’t bother seeing another segment in the theater. I have read the book series and was intriqued when the movies first came out since I did enjoy the books so much. I was so extremely disappointed in the first film, thought the second was better, but still quite teeny-bopper focused. So needless to say, I wasn’t chomping at the bit to get a seat for the third movie, Eclipse. We were given the opportunity for free tickets to the preview of the show so we jumped at the chance. After a teaser of Twilight Trivia, which I did surprisingly well at, the movie began with Edward and Bella sitting in a field of flowers. I was petrified we were in for another roller coaster of a cheesy teenage romance. Luckily, I was extremely wrong. This movie was able to combine the action of the fight scenes with the base of the story line and didn’t over “goo” it with lovey dovey-ness.
I feel that character development was better in this movie. We now felt more for the characters that weren’t main characters. We saw more into the other Cullen “siblings” and got a better look into Sam and the La Push family. Having just read the Bree book, I also really liked that she was nicely incorporated in the movie. The character of Jane was also portrayed wonderfully by Dakota Fanning, her role in the New Moon film was good, but this really was an eye opening role as her expanding adult career goes. Taylor Lautner’s development of the Jacob character in this film was also pivotal. I took the film up a level that wasn’t done by Robert Patterson. (I know just by writing that one sentence I have pissed off many of those under the age of 16! But, what can I say, I feel its true!)
So in general, I highly suggest the movie. This was by far the best movie of the Saga so far. This movie isn’t just for the younger crowd, us 30-something year olds are able to enjoy it as much as the teenage and pre teen crowd. So feel free to not be embarrassed that you are intrigued and want to see the movie. It is worth the mild embarrassment J
